Windsor Windows & Doors sustained significant damage to its Norwalk, Iowa, manufacturing facility in the wake of a weekend tornado. The 160,000 square-foot facility was completed in 2017.

“There were fourteen people in the building at the time of the storm and they followed appropriate safety protocol and sought protection in the designated storm shelter area,” said Mark Rieser, president, Windsor Windows & Doors. ‘We are very grateful that there were no injuries because the safety of our employees is our highest priority.”

The tornado first touched down near Winterset, Iowa, on the evening of Saturday, March 5th. It then traveled northeast toward Norwalk and continued to cause damage across the southern part of the Des Moines metro area. The severe weather traveled across the central and eastern part of the state causing significant damage in several other communities across the state on Saturday evening.

Windsor’s Norwalk facility is located in Warren County, just south of Des Moines. The southeast corner of the building sustained significant damage to the roof and will be unable to produce windows and patio doors until repairs are made. The company’s other manufacturing facilities in West Des Moines, Iowa, and Monroe, N.C. will continue production as normal.
