What I’m Excited About Seeing (and Hearing) in Atlanta
Next week I will be headed to Atlanta to see the latest products on display, mainly components that go into making a door or window. While there are many products taking center stage, there are a few items on the top of my interest list.
I am working on DWM’s Annual Green Awards right now and while nothing is official, Guardian Industries is a top contender for some new residential glass products the company is unveiling. I won’t give it all away here, but look to the October issue to see if they made the list, along with a look at all of our winners. If you are headed to Atlanta and you want a sneak peek of Guardian’s products, and everything else they plan on showcasing in their booth check out their show preview video.
Another product I can’t wait to see is a “revolutionary vinyl cleaning system” from GED that the company says, “provides game changing technologies and is guaranteed to be the talk of the industry.”
More big news on the machinery side is the fact that Italy’s Forel, manufacturer of IG equipment, is setting up a North American operation.
And when it comes to machinery, there is one big question: is the glut of used machinery on the market starting to wane and are people buying again? I’ve heard this is happening and I look forward to learning more in Atlanta.
In fact, much of what I learn while walking the trade show floor is not just products, it’s news. I’ll get the latest scoop on Amesbury’s acquisition of Truth from their top leaders and will have the chance to talk more to new Quanex CEO Bill Griffiths about his new role. We spoke last just two weeks into his new job and this will be a great chance to learn more (for more on all of these stories check out our September issue).
So there is a lot to look forward to next week. If you are at the show I look forward to seeing you, and if not check out our daily video and news reports on dwmmag.com
