The Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) is starting 2015 with a revamped policy agenda aimed at conserving energy and ensuring safety, among other things.

The association has outlined a number of policies that are top priorities for the window, door and skylight industries that will “aid in the recovery of the housing and construction industry, and support continued job creation in the vital U.S. manufacturing sector,” according to a statement.

“As the new 114th Congress convenes, lawmakers will have the opportunity now to advance a pro-growth agenda that will continue the economic recovery,” says WDMA chairman Steve Donner. “The WDMA 2015 National Policy Agenda lays out proposals that will boost national energy efficiency, reduce burdensome regulations, promote smart tax policy, and support quality American manufacturing jobs.”

The 2015 WDMA National Policy Agenda is divided into eight different policy areas:

  • Energy Conservation
  • Building Codes
  • Environmental Stewardship
  • Building Safety
  • Housing & Economic Policy
  • Tax Policy
  • Product Supply and Trade; and
  • Workforce/Workplace

WDMA president and CEO Michael O’Brien says the association “looks forward to working with Congress and the Obama Administration to promote fiscally sound policies that will spur job creation, continue the housing recovery and improve the manufacturing climate in this country.”

The 2015 WDMA National Policy Agenda will be distributed to all members of Congress and key administration officials and will be used during WDMA members’ visits with their elected representatives during the WDMA Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference on March 23-25 in Washington, D.C.
