Republic Windows & Doors to Close Tomorrow, Paper Reports

December 4th, 2008 by Editor

Republic Windows & Doors in Chicago will close tomorrow, December 5, according to reports from the Chicago Tribune. According to the report, the company, which has been in business since 1965, is closing due to a cancellation of its line of credit by its main lender, Bank of America, “due to a severe downturn in business at the plant.”The story cites sales of new construction windows at $6 million for this year-down from $30 million at the height the construction boom. Sales of replacement windows, however, are still at around $38 million-down from a high of $40 million, according to the Tribune.

At press time, officials at Republic had not responded to requests for comment.
