Renewal by Andersen of Long Island (Renewal), a window replacement business, will be closing its call center this spring. According to state filings 35 workers will be laid off as a result of the call center closing.

Renewal filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notice with the state Labor Department on January 30, 2020 which states the company will close its call center, located at 2029 New Highway in Farmingdale, N.Y. on April 29, 2020.

“Separations will occur during the 14-day period beginning on April 29, 2020,” a portion of the WARN notice reads.

Renewal noted that it has informed its call center employees of the upcoming closing. Glenn Shuster, Renewal head of people operations, stated the company plans to assist impacted employees find other positions within the company’s other local operations. According to the company’s website, it has showroom locations across the United States.

“Recently, we communicated to our employees that we are consolidating the Long Island call center operation with our other U.S.-based call centers,” said Shuster. “Our intention is to offer all impacted employees, who are in good standing, other positions in our Long Island office since we continue to experience strong growth and we are currently recruiting installers, design consultants and field marketers.”

According to the act, WARN requires companies with at least 50 full-time employees to file a notice of a mass layoff or a closing 90 days prior.
