Quanex Foundation Makes $500,000 Local Donation for Pandemic Relief
June 17th, 2020 by EditorThe Quanex Foundation has announced that it recently donated a total of $500,000 to aid in pandemic relief as part of its efforts to support nonprofit organizations in the communities where it operates. The donation was spread among 40 local organizations, including food pantries, shelters and first responders that are providing essential services to their communities.
“We’re always proud to support Quanex hometowns by donating to local nonprofits annually. However, during these challenging times, we knew we needed to do more,” said Paul Cornett, chairman of the Quanex Foundation and senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for Quanex Building Products. “We are proud to support so many organizations and heroes across the country who are working tirelessly to provide food, shelter and safety to those who need it most.”
The Quanex Foundation has been in place for nearly 50 years, with a mission of giving back to the communities where it operates. In connection with this giving initiative, individual donations to local charities in Quanex hometowns ranged from $7,500 to $15,000. Plant managers at each location delivered the donations in early May.
“The response we’ve received from these nonprofits has been tremendous and overwhelming,” said Cornett. “Many are struggling to keep up and are relying on donations to provide much-needed support. To know our donations have helped them continue to do amazing work in our communities is an honor for us and for all Quanex employees. One of our core principles is to always ‘do the right thing,’ and we will continue to do that. We also encourage others to consider donating to their own local charitable organizations, many of whom will need increased support from businesses and individuals during this trying time.”
The Quanex Foundation also expects to make its usual annual donations in September.
