PGT Innovations Provides Post-Storm Aid to LouisianaSeptember 28th, 2021 by Editor
PGT Innovations recently hosted a drive-through hurricane relief supplies distribution event on-site at the future NewSouth Window factory showroom in Metairie, La. NewSouth Window Solutions is part of the PGT Innovations family of brands and the company says the Metairie factory showroom was approximately 10% complete when Hurricane Ida hit Louisiana on August 29, 2021.
Seven team members drove more than 660 miles from the NewSouth Window Solutions manufacturing location in Tampa, Fla. The team, which comprised team members from the NewSouth Window factory showroom, PGT Innovations sales representatives, and local volunteers, distributed two tractor-trailers full of provisions to those affected by Hurricane Ida. More than 38,000 bottles of water, 800 gallons of Gatorade, 500 tarps, nails, first aid kits, flashlights and batteries were distributed to more than 1,000 families via a drive-through line set up to ensure the personal health and wellness of everyone involved.
“It’s important to us as a company to not only protect people from storm damage, but to also act as a trusted partner after the storm passes to help rebuild our communities,” said Charlie Fernandez, market president for NewSouth Window of New Orleans.
Hurricane Ida made landfall at Port Fourchon, La., as a category four storm, with sustained winds of approximately 150 miles per hour.
“Our goal is that the support and supplies we provide after any devastating storm will help residents know that they are not in this alone,” said Jeff Jackson, president and CEO of PGT Innovations. “There are companies and organizations that will be there to help them rebuild their homes, their communities, and their lives.”
