Pella Helps Baton Rouge Recover From Flooding
October 6th, 2016 by EditorAs the residents and businesses of Baton Rouge continue to recover from the devastating floods in August, the team members at Pella Corporation and its Baton Rouge distributor will be donating almost $50,000 to support their efforts and help provide some relief.
“As soon as we heard about the efforts of our local team members who were packing lunches, delivering water and doing what they could to raise funds for the Red Cross and Greater Baton Rouge Food Pantry, we knew our network of team members would want to take action too,” says Karmen Gardner, manager of corporate communications and the Pella Rolscreen Foundation.
Pella immediately launched an internal two-week fundraising effort that included a 200-percent match from the Pella Rolscreen Foundation. More than $24,000 was quickly raised through contributions and the Rolscreen Foundation match. Plus, the team members at the Pella distributor in Baton Rouge continued their regional efforts and raised $15,000.
In addition to team member contributions, Pella is granting $10,000 to the Red Cross and the Food Bank ($5,000 each). The total funds of almost $50,000 will be distributed between the two community organizations.
“Pella Corporation and its independent distributors are family-owned businesses, through and through,” added Kevin Cassidy, owner of Pella Windows & Doors of Baton Rouge. “We will continue to support the local community and are so thankful to have the team members throughout Pella Corporation helping that effort.”
