Palmer-Donavin Announces New CEO and COO

The board of directors for Palmer-Donavin announced that Robyn Pollina is the company’s new CEO.Weeks later, Pollina promoted Matt Butzier to chief operating officer (COO).

Pollina, who served 23 years as the company’s CFO, assumed the position of CEO upon the retirement of Ron Calhoun.

August 1, the company announced that Butzier was promoted to COO. He now reports to Pollina and is responsible for sales and operations for both the building material and door divisions. Butzier has 22 years of experience in sales, purchasing and management, and most recently served as vice president and general manager of the company’s building materials division.

Settje Named COO of CTI

Composite Technology International (CTI) named Bryan Settje chief operating officer (COO). The Sacramento, Calif.-based environmental engineering and manufacturing company produces millwork products for building product manufacturers, distributors and retailers. Settje’s role is managed from the company’s Sacramento headquarters where he is responsible for aligning and managing overseas teams in China and Southeast Asia, as well as its U.S.-based teams, including sourcing, operations, quality control, engineering, inside sales, and transportation. He joined the company in 2015 as executive vice president of business development, after serving at Jeld-Wen, where he led the door manufacturing operations for the interior, exterior and pre-hanging groups.

Deceuninck North America Names New CEO

Effective August 1, Joren Knockaert became the new president and CEO of Deceuninck North America. The company appointed Knockaert to succeed Filip Geeraert, who retired as president and CEO in June.

Francis Van Eeckhout, CEO of Deceuninck Group, the parent company of Deceuninck North America, says Knockaert comes to Deceuninck with extensive global experience and a deep understanding of vinyl manufacturing. He joins Deceuninck from flooring company Mohawk Industries, where, as vice president of operations, he ran the company’s North American operations in sheet vinyl and luxury vinyl flooring.

Prior to Mohawk, he held executive roles with Bekaert and Solutia, an American manufacturer of chemical-based materials.

Leadership Changes at Guardian Industries

Ron Vaupel, president and CEO of Guardian Industries, assumed leadership of the company’s glass business in July, after the departure of Kevin Baird, who served as president and CEO of Guardian Glass since 2014.

In the meantime, Rick Zoulek and Guus Boekhoudt have each been named executive vice presidents for Guardian Glass. Zoulek oversees the company’s operations in North, Central and South America, while Boekhoudt will now add operations in India, the Middle East and Africa to his previous responsibilities in Europe and Asia.

“In this rapidly changing business environment, it is imperative that we understand the complex requirements of our customers and continue to provide the products and services that they value,” Vaupel said. “These leadership changes best position Guardian Glass to serve our customers. We wish Kevin well and thank him for his leadership.”

Rostad and Meluskey Promoted by Quanex

Quanex Building Products recently promoted Wendy Rostad to senior inside sales manager and Jack Meluskey to Western regional sales manager within its North American Fenestration (NAF) group.

Rostad has been with the company since 1995, as a customer service representative, production scheduler, purchaser and customer service manager. Meluskey most recently served as national account manager.

In her new role, Rostad is responsible for leading all pricing activities and customer communications across NAF.

Meluskey continues to drive growth for key accounts within the Western region.

RSL Hires Lebo as Regional Sales Manager

RSL hired Drew Lebo as regional sales manager for its Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest territories. Though the majority of his time is spent working in the field, Lebo is based out of the company’s office in Egg Harbor Township, N.J.

In his new role, Lebo is responsible for developing new sales opportunities and expanding the company’s market share for his territory. He joins RSL with more than 10 years of experience in both sales and building materials.

Ensinger Appoints Lafreniere Sales Manager

Ensinger Building Products has appointed Carl Lafreniere as sales manager for Eastern Canada and the Northeastern U.S. Lafreniere has more than 10 years of experience providing technical solutions and components.

“Carl’s diverse background – in addition to his broad experience and deep knowledge in our industry – will enable Ensinger to continue growing in this critically important market,” said Jim Wright, general manager, Ensinger Building Products, the Americas.

YKK AP America Hires Residential General Manager

YKK AP America hired Rick Cawston as general manager of residential sales. In his new role, Cawston works to strengthen relationships with door and window dealers by supporting both the sales and customer service teams. He joins the company with more than 25 years of sales experience among building products. Cawston’s technical expertise along with his organizational leadership experience will serve as an asset to customers and colleagues alike, company officials say.

Co-Founder of Pollard Windows Dies at 91

Described in his obituary as “a visionary, entrepreneur,” Reginald Pollard was born in 1929, in Yorkshire, England, then immigrated to Canada in 1947. The following year, his family founded Pollard Windows, a company he remained involved with until a few years ago.

In 2009 Pollard was recognized as a Pioneer of the Industry by the Canadian Window and Door Manufacturers Association, and in 2012 the Burlington Economic Development Corporation awarded him the Burlington Entrepreneur of the Year Award, which honors individuals that have built a successful, nationally or internationally recognized company, given back to the community and strengthened the image of the city. Pollard also received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal in 2012, given to Canadians who have made significant contributions and achievements to their fellow citizens, their community, or to Canada over the previous 60 years.
