MMPA Cancels WM® Millwork Marketplace

March 18th, 2020 by Editor

The Moulding & Millwork Producers Association (MMPA) has canceled its spring event, the WM Millwork Marketplace, citing the recommendations of limiting travel and a desire help avoid possibly exposing MMPA members and guests to the COVID-19 virus. The event was scheduled for April 19-22, 2020.

The MMPA leadership says it has been monitoring the COVID-19 news alerts over the last month, recognizing the spring conference would need to be addressed. As the virus continues to spread, the association is holding itself accountable and does not want be a part of the problem, but rather assist in the solution.

“Coming together is more than a meeting, so we are taking the needed steps to assure the best for our MMPA family health,” said MMPA president Tim Dykstra of Royal Building Products. “We look forward to staying connected and supporting each other in different ways over the next weeks.”

The MMPA says it is cognizant of the financial impact the cancellation has regarding the employees of the businesses tied to this program and the organization is looking at re-scheduling an event at The Westin Jekyll Island hotel in future years, continuing to be a good partner to hoteliers, industry suppliers, and business affiliates while putting membership safety first during the pandemic.

As the association navigates the cancellation process in the coming weeks, the MMPA will communicate next steps for everyone affected by this cancellation via the website and registration software electronic notices. Registered WM Millwork Marketplace attendees who have questions about the cancellation process may contact MMPA CEO Kellie Schroeder at kelli@wmmpa.com.
