Lead Paint Training Now Available Online

February 5th, 2016 by Casey Flores

Door and window dealers who have not yet taken the refresher training for the Lead: Renovation, Repair and Painting (LRRP) rule offered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) can now take the course online. The deadline to do so is March 31.

The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) cleared the final rule permitting the online option on January 21.

The rule will apply in all states where EPA administers the LRRP rule, but not in the 14 states that administer their own programs: Alaska; Delaware; Iowa; Kansas; Massachusetts; Mississippi; North Carolina; Oklahoma; Oregon; Rhode Island; Utah; Washington; and Wisconsin.

The final rule also eliminates the requirement that firms, training providers and contractors be certified or accredited in each EPA-administered jurisdiction where they work, according to NAHB Now.

The rule will soon be finalized and published by the EPA.
