JELD-WEN Executive Wins National Recognition for Women in ManufacturingMarch 7th, 2022 by Editor
JELD-WEN’s Bonnie Davis will take the stage next month in Washington, D.C. where she will receive the Women in Manufacturing STEP Ahead Award, which honors women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their careers – from the factory floor to the C-Suite. Davis is one of 100 women nationwide to be honored by the Manufacturing Institute for her accomplishments in manufacturing.
“We could not be prouder of Bonnie for her leadership in our company and the manufacturing industry,” said Gary S. Michel, JELD-WEN chair, president and CEO. “She is a key member of the JELD-WEN’s Women’s Network and a mentor to female employees. We join The Manufacturing Institute in congratulating Bonnie, as we all work to attract more talented women to our company and our industry.”
Davis, vice president of JELD-WEN Excellence Model (JEM) transformation, oversees leadership teams that develop and implement lean strategies and has developed and deployed A3 problem solving to a global audience of 25,000 associates. She was honored not only for her significant contributions to JELD-WEN, but also the Charlotte community, and for developing future generations of talent in manufacturing.
“I am humbled and excited to represent JELD-WEN’s large labor force of amazing women across the globe,” said Davis. “It is personally very rewarding to know I am valued for mentoring and opening doors for other women to pursue their dreams.”
A critical component of the STEP Women’s Initiative is closing the gender gap in manufacturing as women account for less than one in three manufacturing workers despite representing about half of the overall workforce, according to the Manufacturing Institute. Winning the 10th Annual STEP Ahead award means Davis joins a network of 1,200 women who lead by example and drive change in their companies and communities, through innovation across all levels of the industry.
Davis, a Mooresville resident, says she has lived by one personal motto for many years: “Every day, take a step forward, and make something better than it was yesterday.”
