Beefed Up Performance
With its Aspekt+ 1800, Rehau expanded its casement window portfolio to include a strength-enhancing sash. The objective? To meet stringent Passive House requirements while addressing the growing demand for larger windows in residential and commercial construction. Product designers accomplished this by incorporating Rau-Fipro, a glass-fiber reinforced PVC material. At the same time, the company’s co-extruded triple-seal technology limits thermal conduction and ensures a tight frame-to-sash seal for better U-values. The result is an outswing casement window that offers high structural and thermal performance and acoustic insulation.
Aspekt+ 1800 allows fabricators to build units for up to 30% larger openings with long-lasting stability and torsional rigidity. The system is designed to
achieve U-values as low as 0.14, STC ratings up to 42 dB, and structural NAFS ratings up to CW-PG100.
The new product joins the original all-PVC Aspekt 1800 design, both of which are available in 31/4-inch, 33/8-inch and 31/2-inch frame depths.
Out of Sight
Officials for Pella Corp. say its new Hidden Screen is the only product of its type for vinyl windows offered among leading national window brands. The screen appears when you open your window and folds away when the window is closed, out of sight and away from the elements.
According to company information, the feature provides the clearest view possible and more natural light than traditional screens. Meanwhile, it stays clean and undamaged while tucked away and not in use. Designed to be durable and long-lasting, the Hidden Screen was tested to 9,400 cycles, which is equivalent to opening and closing your windows once a day for 25 years.
Currently offered on 250 Series single-hung windows, the product is set to be available on double-hung or sliding windows through a local Pella showroom and will be available to professionals in late 2022.
Geared for Heavy
Doors aren’t getting any lighter. That’s one reason why Johnson’s new Multi-Door (MD) Bypass sliding door hardware is manufactured with up to 16-gauge steel components. Pre-packaged tracks are made for three-door applications and offered in both residential and commercial grades.
According to company information, the 111MD supports doors up to 150 lbs., while the 100MD handles up to 200 lbs. and the heavy-duty 200MD holds
doors up to 400 lbs. per panel.
New Horizontal Option
UAP Ltd. launched a horizontal version of its Fullex Kinetica+ K4 3* cylinder, providing additional choices for those looking for security and ease of installation. Officials say the Kinetica+ K4 Horizontal follows the success of a vertical version, which was released last year. Like the vertical
version, it features a single cylinder to provide ease of installation and robust security. The horizontal design provides up to 13 million key combinations, thanks to six dimple pins and five laser track side pins.
The new horizontal cylinder is one-hour fire-rated and features UAP’s patented anti-bump timing pin system, anti-pick pins, and hardened steel anti-drill pins. The absence of trap pins reduces the risk of cylinder entrapment. A sacrificial snapline on the outside of the cylinder protects against attack while allowing for opening the cylinder from the inside, even if it has been attacked from the outside.
After two years of development, officials for GU-Ferco say they came up with a brandnew take on casement window hardware, including a modern, sleek design that’s designed to be functional and practical. The company’s new Fenix Evo casement hardware offers the first recessed multipoint locking
system, which, according to company information, makes it the thinnest casement locking handle available. The product’s slim and flush profile make it almost invisible in the locked and unlocked positions, while keeping it out of the way of window treatments.
The entire line includes stainless-steel hardware that installs with just one click into window profiles, making installation quick, efficient and screwless.
