Report Anticipates Demand for Plastics in Building to Grow

Anew report from the Plastics Industry Association (Plastics), “The Plastics Market Watch Report,” predicts that the demand for plastic materials in building and construction is set to increase, including vinyl windows and products made of wood plastic composites (WPC). Changes, the report suggests, will be driven by builders’ preferences for corrosion resistance, improved strength to weight ratio, design flexibility, sustainability and cost efficiency.

Report Shows Few Bankruptcies and More Expansions Than Closures

Information recently provided by Building Industry Advisors LLC, as part of the company’s 2018 Window and Door Industry Update, points to a full recovery among door and window companies since a 2008 recession. The report shows only three bankruptcies among door and window manufacturers since the close of 2014, and none reported through third-quarter 2018.

The news is equally as good among expansions and closures with 110 expansions occurring between 2006 and year to date 2018. Declines among plant closures follow a similar pattern of improvement.
