Great Day Improvements LLC recently announced the acquisition of Hartshorn Custom Contracting Inc., a custom manufacturer and installer of screen enclosures for pools, lanais and patios.

Hartshorn custom designs and manufactures its pool and screen enclosure products at the company’s Tampa, Fla.-based facility. Officials for Great Day Improvements say it will continue to custom manufacture patio enclosures and windows at its existing Macedonia, Ohio, facility.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Hartshorn Custom Contracting Inc. to our family of businesses,” said Great Day Improvements president and CEO Michael Hoy. “Plus, Hartshorn brings to our organization a strong and experienced team with considerable tenure in the enclosures business, which is a huge asset.”

In a news release by Great Day Improvements, officials say operating two manufacturing facilities in different parts of the country, each with its own specialties, will create additional opportunities for the company as it grows geographically.

“Great Day is actively seeking acquisitions in the building products sector as part of its ‘Strategic Transactions’ initiative,” said Great Day Improvements chairman Ed Weinfurtner. “We seek businesses that can be additive in terms of people, products, capabilities and new geographic markets. Hartshorn is a great example of the kind of business that fits with Great Day.”

With the addition of Hartshorn Custom Contracting, the company now employs over 425 people.
