Excitement Builds for an Industry Leader

If you’ve ever met Deceuninck North America CEO Filip Geeraert, you know about his overflowing enthusiasm for the fenestration business – and for life in general.

So it was a real honor to witness that joie de vivre up close again at the grand opening of Deceuninck’s new plant in Fernley, Nev., about 40 miles east of Reno.

“The moment I arrived here, I got the shivers,” Geeraert said during Saturday’s event. “Building something from the ground up gives you a special feeling.”

His firm has built a lot in the U.S. during the past few years. According to statistics supplied by the company, more than 50 million windows designed by Deceuninck have been installed in the U.S., and 98 percent of its manufactured products are for private-label use. Its U.S. facilities now cover nearly a million square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space.

The Nevada plant, which will serve booming housing markets in the Western states, is just the latest stage in that growth.

“The opening is very important to Deceuninck and to me personally,” he said. “It shows that we’re growing again. We are taking market share, and we can be closer to our customers, which is the main goal. We hope to become No. 1 in the next couple of years.”

Deceuninck’s expansion is also good news for the industry, because it’s solid proof that the recovery in housing and construction is humming right along.

That’s great news, whether you’re with Deceuninck or you’re one of its many competitors.
