Western Window Systems Simulated Steel Line

Western Window Systems recently unveiled its simulated steel line, a new offering of energy-efficient, thermally broken aluminum windows and doors designed to match the distinctive look of steel.

An extension of the recently launched Series 7000 performance family, Western Window Systems’ simulated steel line sports narrow, clean profiles with beveled glass stops and .875-inch simulated divided lites (SDLs) designed to emulate a steel putty glaze. Crafted with a signature aluminum extrusion design, the new product line offers energy-efficient solutions such as across-the-board low U-factor ratings, low-E, argon-filled dual-pane glass, and a tested design pressure rating of 50. Options such as oversize glass, split finishes, and screens allow for even more design flexibility.

Marvin Modern

Marvin Modern, a new system of doors, windows and options that is designed to enable architects and builders to execute modern design projects, will launch late fall 2018. A new-to-the-market material, Marvin Modern’s proprietary high-density fiberglass exterior, aluminum interior and patent-pending frame design deliver category-leading thermal and structural performance, enabling strength at large sizes, narrow sight lines and longer lifespans. Company officials say the product line is the result of in-depth research with modern architects and builders, testing and cross-industry collaboration.

Marvin Modern made its industry debut at the AIA Conference on Architecture and will be released to the market in phases. Multi-slide doors and direct-glaze windows will be released in late fall 2018, followed by casement and awning windows in early 2019, with additional products being added to the line throughout the year. The multi-slide door will be available with Sliding Door Automatic Control, and all products will be available with Marvin’s factory-installed Lock Status Sensor.

Bavarian Polymers Series 5050

The extruder’s new Series 5050 sliding glass door has a 4-9/16-inch frame depth, integral siding J-Channel and three-inch-wide panels. Frames are dual-weatherstripped and feature snap-in covers to enhance aesthetics. Two-track and direct-glazed styles are available. The direct-set door can be rotated for reversibility and has optional fixed-glass adapters for equal glass heights.5050 exterior-glazed doors are projected to meet Zone 4 impact testing and have a 7/8-inch glazing leg and 5/8-inch panel penetration into the frame. IG glass thicknesses range from ¾ of an inch to 1-1/4 inches. The company says that independent laboratory tests on a direct-set door achieved DP50 performance.

MI Adds Back SuperCapSR Color Technology

MI Windows and Doors’ HomeMaker3 and EnergyCore (EC) 190 sliding glass door product lines are now available with the company’s black SuperCapSR co-extrusion exterior color technology. Previously only available in silver and bronze, SuperCapSR is a scratch-resistant, molecularly-fused color layer that reflects up to 76 per-cent of infrared light, helping to prevent heat build-up and frame distortion caused by high outdoor temperatures and extreme sun and UV exposure.
