Simonton Receives Medal from Secretary of Defense

Simonton Windows in Parkersburg, W.Va., recently was awarded a medal for exceptional public service from the Office of the Secretary of Defense for its contributions to an organization developed to provide homes to injured service men and women, "Homes for Our Troops." The medal was presented on June 28 by Gen. Robert Magnus, assistant commandant of the Marine Corps.

In addition, medals went to The McKee Group, a real estate company involved in the project, and John Gonsalves, who founded the organization. Simonton has donated windows and doors to the cause.

"Simonton Windows has been a champion of our cause before we ever built our first house," Gonslaves says. "They came to us when they initially learned of our organization. They wholeheartedly committed their products and support to help us grow."
