Homes for Our Troops, a non-profit organization that builds homes for disabled veterans returning from overseas duty, has honored Simonton Windows® in Parkersburg, W.Va., with its 2006 Outstanding Corporate Supporter Award.

Presented during the organization's first annual dinner/auction in Boston on March 31st, the award was given "in grateful recognition of Simonton's dedication and support of Homes for Our Troops."

"Even before our first home was built three years ago, Simonton Windows believed in our goals and joined our organization as a corporate sponsor," says John Gonsalves, founder and president of Homes for Our Troops. "Thanks to their confidence and support, we have been able to build and commit to 30 home building and remodeling projects for veterans throughout the country.

Homes for Our Troops was created in 2004 to help severely wounded service men and women with serious disabilities and injuries. Based in Massachusetts, the organization coordinates the donation of products and labor to build new homes or adapt existing homes for handicapped accessibility for the specific needs of a returning veteran, at no cost to the service person.

"We are humbled to play a supporting role in this worthwhile organization," says Mark Savan, president of Simonton Windows. "It's an honor to work with this selfless, dedicated team at Homes for Our Troops to provide extended support to our veterans when they return home after serving our country.

"The bravery, service and sacrifice of our troops makes our nation a better place. Providing windows and patio doors that will make their homes more comfortable is a small way for us to give something back to the men and women who have given so much themselves."
