Republic Wins Website Design Awards

Republic Windows & Doors of Chicago, Ill., has been the recipient of two website design awards for its new product website, The site was designed by the company's multimedia designer, Eric Cohen, and graphic designer, Jason Soto.

Webmaster Awards and Canadian Web Awards issued the honors. Criteria for the Webmaster Award include unique and useful content, exceptional design and layout and clear and simple navigation. Canadian Web Awards measure the uniqueness of the site, along with its content, design, informative nature and consumer friendliness.

The style and layout of the site was inspired by Josef Albers, a professor at the Bauhaus school in Germany, who used concentric squares with focus on the relationship of color, according to Cohen. The company used in-house software to make the site educational and entertaining, using 3-D animation, video, slide shows, walkthroughs and games.

"A homeowner that is interested in spending a little more money to get the best product needs to understand what it is that makes the Enhancement Window System truly revolutionary," said Soto.
