Lexington Named a Minnesota Manufacturer of the Year

Lexington Manufacturing of Minneapolis has been named Minnesota Manufacturer of the Year for mid-sized companies by the Minnesota Manufacturer's Alliance. Art Sneen, director of the Manufacturers Alliance, cited Lexington's success in the implementation of its lean manufacturing program and its willingness to share its lean experience with other manufacturers as the basis for the recognition.

Lexington president Bob Dimke accepted the award and noted that the contributions of all of Lexington's employees were what helped make its lean program work.

"The key to lean implementation is to get buy-in from every corner of the organization and then to sustain the discipline of continuous improvement until it is firmly rooted in the company culture," said Dimke.

With plants in both Minneapolis and Brainerd, Minn., Lexington has 200 employees and generates about $45 to $50 million in annual sales, according to the company.
