Northern Building Products Awarded Large Window Job in Co-Op City

Northern Building Products of Teterboro, N.J., has been named the official manufacturer for Co-op City, the largest single residential development in the United States with 15,372 units located on the shores of the Long Island Sound. Over the next four years, Northern will manufacture more than 130,000 replacement products to improve comfort and energy costs in 35 high-rise buildings and seven townhouse clusters. The first installations are expected to begin in next month.

The $57.9 million contract calls for Northern Building Products' Model 5000 Heavy Commercial Double Hung Tilt Window, Model 7000 Heavy Commercial Terrace Out-Swing Door and Model 2001 Heavy Commercial Sliding Glass Door to be installed by Tindel Replacement Windows Inc. According to the board of directors, the new, energy-efficient windows from Northern will be welcomed by the Co-op City community. Residents are anxious to have leaky windows in their apartments replaced and the board looks forward to saving money on energy costs this winter.

The Co-op City retrofit project represents Northern's largest job to date. The firm is already widely respected across the nation for its high-quality products and personalized service. Additionally, Northern has offered thirty full-time jobs to Co-op City residents to produce the windows made for the project as a way to give back to the community. The successful completion of the Co-op City contract reinforces Northern Building Products' reputation as a top firm in the industry.
