Edgetech I.G. to Open Manufacturing Facility in England
Edgetech says that the demand for its Super Spacer® in the United Kingdom is so high that it will invest in a new manufacturing facility there. The new $4.4 million plant in Coventry, England, will be the only dedicated warm-edge extrusion facility in the U.K.
"Edgetech's U.K. market growth has been in excess of 300-percent in the last three years. With this type of market demand for our product, it was time for Edgetech to take the next step in our commitment to this marketplace," says Mike Hovan, president. "This expansion is symbolic of the growth Edgetech has experienced on an international scale and demonstrates the confidence Super Spacer has achieved globally."
Edgetech UK was established 11 years ago. Just three years ago there were three Super Spacer lines located there. By the end of September 2007, there will be 17 fully-automated and eight semi-automated production lines installed and commissioned in the U.K. Each line is capable of producing between 500 and 1,000 units per day on a single eight-hour shift with minimum man power, the company reports.
The new Edgetech UK facility will be operational in the summer of 2007 following a three-day celebration. Edgetech will continue to supply global demand from its 476,000-square-foot headquarters in Cambridge, Ohio.
