Andersen to Manufacture in Georgia, Expects Demand for Replacement and Impact Products

January 18th, 2023 by Drew Vass, Executive Editor

Andersen Corp. announced plans to develop a new facility in Henry County, Ga., where officials say the company will produce its Renewal by Andersen line of replacement products. The new location marks Andersen’s first manufacturing site in Georgia, alongside a distribution center in Douglasville and an Andersen Windows and Doors office in Marietta. According to company officials, operations and production technologies in Henry County will mimic those deployed at its Cottage Grove, Minn., and Goodyear, Ariz., locations, requiring 900 new employees.

“Locust Grove is excited to welcome Renewal by Andersen’s new advanced manufacturing facility to our rapidly growing industrial and logistics corridor,” says Locust Grove Mayor Robert Price. “This facility will bring a significant amount of advanced manufacturing positions and represents the largest economic development project in our city and county’s history.”

Officials for Andersen say the facility’s workforce requirements will range from entry-level to highly skilled positions. The company plans to provide on-the-job training but will also lean on area schools and career development programs.

“We are thrilled to be joining the Locust Grove community through our Renewal by Andersen business—expanding our operations, accelerating our growth and adding to our broader team in Georgia,” says Andersen Corp. president and CEO Chris Galvin. “With a strong labor force, a favorable business environment and accessible transportation, the state of Georgia, Henry County and the City of Locust Grove, in particular, is a great place to do business. We are confident in our choice to make this significant investment in the state of Georgia.”

That confidence is based in part on the success of the Renewal by Andersen division, a company representative tells [DWM], along with expectations for the remodeling market. When asked about the timing of the $420 million investment, officials cite a “record number” of homeowners seeking its Renewal by Andersen products and services. They also point to a study conducted by Houzz showing that 23% of homeowners plan to renovate in 2023, with a majority aiming to begin projects in January. According to the survey, 67% of homeowners prefer to remain in their existing homes, while prioritizing updates.

“We anticipate continued strong demand for Renewal by Andersen products and services in 2023,” a company representative says.

Andersen also forecasts continued growth and increased demand for its replacement products in the Georgia region following the introduction of a new coastal impact line, which is slated to reach additional markets over the next several years. The new facility is designed to be expanded to support additional product lines, according to company information.

Construction is slated for 2023, with operations expected to launch in 2025.
