AmesburyTruth Sells Its Non-Fenestration Custom Extrusion Business

February 27th, 2015 by Editor

AmesburyTruth is doing away with its non-fenestration products and sticking exclusively to doors and windows.

The manufacturer has agreed to sell its non-fenestration custom extrusion business in Ontario, Calif. to La Habra, Calif.-based VIP Rubber and Plastic Products. Under the terms of the agreement, AmesburyTruth will retain the fenestration custom extrusion business as well as the Bandlock Couplers business.

“Our goal is to be North America’s No. 1 supplier of window and door components,” says Jeff Graby, president. “We’re aligning our business to be the premier manufacturer of fenestration components and streamlining our manufacturing efficiencies to strengthen our capabilities.”

About 50 employees work at  the 72,000-square-foot facility.  The company will retain two of the 50 employees who “will be instrumental in further developing [their] fenestration business,” according to a company statement.

The custom extrusion business in Ontario served many markets spanning fenestration and non-fenestration products. AmesburyTruth will move that location’s fenestration operations to its Cannon Falls, Minn., plant. According to a company statement, “significant investments have been made in the Cannon Falls facility to satisfy future demand” and “the engineering team in Cannon Falls will focus on optimizing products through material evaluation, process improvement and product design to better serve fenestration customers.”

The Bandlock Couplers business has already relocated from California to the company’s operations in Fremont, Neb., which specializes in metal fabrication.

The sale of the non-fenestration extrusion business is expected to be complete on April 13.
