AMD Kicks off 50 Years with a Name ChangeOctober 21st, 2014 by Editor
The Association of Millwork Distributors (AMD) is meeting this week in Tampa, but as of a few hours ago they are now meeting as the World Millwork Alliance. The name was announced as part of the group’s opening session this afternoon.
Nathan Potter, outgoing president, says the change is part of the association’s strategic plan. “Times are a changing and we need to change more,” he told a packed room of attendees. He also noted that being labeled as an association has its downfalls.
“We need to be in the business of building their [members’] business,” he said right before announcing the new name.
Rosalie Leone, executive director, then took over and detailed more specifics on the change and said, “No one is more excited than I am. We are committed to helping our members build business.”
The group will launch a new website early next year that, according to Leone, will “have capabilities more than you can imagine.” She said the group has to think about its current members but also the next generation.
“We have to think about the future and who will be using those tools,” she said.
Members will be able to do everything from connect with members directly from the website and participate in live chats, forums and more.
“The conversations won’t be over when the convention is over,” she said.
And speaking of events Leone said the alliance will be expanding these as well.
