AGC Upgrades Italian Facility

After a three-month cold repair process and an approximate $29 million investment, AGC Flat Glass Italia inaugurated its new float line in Cuneo last week.

The upgraded float line will increase the plant’s capacity while reducing energy consumption by 25 percent, according to a release from the company.  This will lead to a reduction in atmospheric emissions, with 50 percent less carbon monoxide, 14 percent less carbon dioxide and 30 percent less nitrogen oxides, the company states.

The Cuneo site manufactures a wide range of products in various thicknesses, from 3 to 25 mm.

“This operation will increase our competitiveness on the market,” says Takuya Shimamura, AGC Group president and CEO. “Such a development will allow us to reach two aims: supporting our leadership with high-performance products and contributing to a sustainable future.”
