Door and window manufacturer ProVia is set to open a new window manufacturing facility in Mocksville, North Carolina, the state’s governor announced Tuesday.
The $120 million investment includes a 79-acre site at the TriWest Business Center on Farmington Rd., where it will build a 580,000-square-foot facility. The facility will be ProVia’s 10th location, joining facilities in Ohio and Mississippi. According to local Davie County writer Jeanna Baxter White, construction will begin immediately, with completion expected in 2028.
North Carolina Governor Josh Stein said the new facility is expected to add 400 jobs in Davie County, for which the average annual salary will be $66,326, exceeding the county’s current average by $13,554.
“These new jobs could create a potential annual payroll impact of more than $26.5 million for the region,” Stein’s office reported.
To get those jobs and results, the state is investing in the project through a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG), which was approved by North Carolina’s Economic Investment Committee August 25. Over the course of the 12-year term of the grant, the project is estimated to grow the state’s economy by $1 billion, the governor’s office reported. The JDIG agreement authorizes a potential reimbursement to ProVia of up to $3.3 million, over a 12-year period. State payments depend on annual performance verification by the departments of commerce and revenue, verifying that the company has met its job creation and investment targets. For every dollar of potential cost to the state, the state receives $1.73 in state revenue, Stein’s office reported.
Among the key benefits of the expansion, ProVia president and CEO Brian Miller pointed to “excellent lead times” for the company’s customers, presumably throughout the Southeast region.
