Jeld-Wen Announces Layoffs with a Rocky Third Quarter

Jeld-Wen Holding Inc. released its third quarter financial update and with it came news that the company plans to reduce its North America and corporate workforce by approximately 850 positions by the end of the calendar year.

The company reported a decrease in net revenues to $809.5 million (13.4%), which officials attribute to a decrease in core revenues, along with a decrease in net revenues from the court-ordered divestiture of a Towanda, Pennsylvania-based door skins manufacturing plant. Additionally, the net loss from continuing operations was $367.6 million, or $4.30 per share, in the quarter ending September 27, 2025. In the third quarter of 2024, the company recorded net losses from continuing operations at $73 million, or $0.86 per share. Third-quarter operating loss in 2025 was 25%, compared to 5.6% in 2024. Adjusted EBITDA from continuing operations was $44.4 million, a decrease of $37.2 million from the $81.6 million during the same quarter a year ago.

“Third-quarter results fell short of our expectations due to persistent market headwinds and price-cost pressures,” said CEO William J. Christensen.

Net revenues in the North American market declined by $131.8 million (19.4%) to $546.1 million in 2025. The company attributes the 13% decrease in core revenues to a decline in volume/mix due to weakened market demand.

While the layoffs are primarily in the North American workforce, the company is analyzing its European market as well.

“These are incredibly difficult decisions, and we deeply appreciate the dedication and contributions of all of our colleagues. However, given the significant macroeconomic headwinds, these actions are necessary to ensure the long-term health of the business and will strengthen the company’s competitive position going forward,” officials state in its 3Q report.

Judge Refuses to Drop Lawsuit Against Power Home Remodeling Over Robocalls

A federal judge has refused to dismiss a lawsuit accusing Power Home Remodeling of violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). The case, brought by Nathan James Massarello in August 2024, alleges the company used an “artificial or prerecorded voice” to call his cellphone—and those of other class members—without consent.

Massarello reported receiving multiple unwanted calls in June 2024. In his complaint, he says Power Home Remodeling was attempting to reach someone else, despite the fact that he has used the same phone number for a decade. U.S. District Judge Robert J. White, of the Eastern District of Michigan, highlighted this point in his decision, noting that Massarello specifically alleges the company intended to reach another individual.

Power Home Remodeling sought dismissal, arguing Massarello was not “the called party” under the TCPA because it had permission from the intended recipient. The company maintained the number had been dialed in error.

Judge White disagreed. In denying the motion, he cited the statute’s prohibition on using an automatic telephone dialing system or prerecorded voice to call numbers assigned to cellular services, unless the “called party” has provided prior express consent.

Power Home warned that adopting this interpretation could expose companies to “massive liability” for wrong-number calls. White rejected that argument.

Andersen Corp. Claims Machine Manufacturer Failed to Deliver Equipment

Andersen Corp. and its affiliate, Eagle Window & Door Manufacturing Inc., have sued an automated equipment manufacturer over what they claim was a failed effort to produce machinery for Andersen’s E-Series products at Eagle’s Dubuque, Iowa, facility.

Filed in Minnesota’s Washington County District Court, the lawsuit targets Ontario-based ATS Corp. and its U.S. subsidiary, ATS Ohio Inc. Andersen and Eagle allege that ATS’ poor project management caused repeated delays, design flaws, rework and additional costs—ultimately leading to a failure to deliver.

According to the complaint, Andersen hired ATS in 2020 to design and build automated assembly equipment for the E-Series line. Eagle officials say they cleared floor space, re-engineered workflows and committed staff and capital to prepare for a sequenced launch. Despite those preparations, the companies allege ATS never finished the machines, forcing them to spend “millions of dollars” attempting to obtain the promised equipment.

The plaintiffs allege that ATS “cycled inexperienced personnel through the project,” used flawed processes and repeatedly reworked equipment without bringing it into contract compliance. Court documents state the project is now more than 860 days behind schedule and that ATS is “nowhere near” meeting its obligations.

Instead of correcting the issues, the lawsuit alleges ATS halted work and demanded contract amendments and “millions in extra payments” not permitted under the agreement. The complaint characterizes ATS’ actions as “gross negligence or willful misconduct.”

Andersen and Eagle say they learned in March 2025 that ATS had stopped work entirely and shifted resources to other projects. They claim ATS repeatedly admitted it would not resume work without additional payments.

The plaintiffs say they have suffered significant economic losses and are seeking lost profits along with direct, consequential and incidental damages.
