Owens Corning announced that it will close one of its door components facilities in Oregon, where the company is set to lay off 184 employees. Impacted positions span production and maintenance, to managers and corporate engineering, with the largest numbers including 45 production operators, 29 general laborers and 16 machine operators.
The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice Tuesday, with Oregon’s Office of Workforce Investments. Layoffs are set to begin on August 25, 2025, after which some employees will remain to help with “winding down the facility,” the notice said. Remaining employees will then be released starting in September, with the anticipated schedule spanning September 19, 2025, to September 26, 2025. Final separations occur November 30, after which the closing is expected to be permanent. There is no union associated with the facility.
“Owens Corning has made the strategic business decision to close our doors components facility in Prineville, Oregon. This decision was not taken lightly, and leadership’s priority is supporting the team in Prineville through this transition,” Megan James, a spokesperson for Owens Corning, told [DWM].
According to local media, the plant, located at 1155 N Main St., in Prineville, was formerly owned and operated by Contact Industries, and later acquired by Owens Corning through its acquisition of Masonite International Corp. Owens Corning purchased Masonite in May 2024, thereby entering the doors segment. In May of this year, the company reported raising its margin guide and growing revenue, increasing its long-term enterprise adjusted EBITDA margin guide to mid-20% on average, expecting $12.5 billion in sales by 2028. Officials expect the company’s doors segment to increase its adjusted EBITDA margin to 18% in the next one to three years, and to as much as 20% or more over the long-term.
Owens Corning operates worldwide, with more than 25,000 employees in 31 countries.
