More Options, Solid Hardware And Great Dealers. But No More Shipping Damages Or Seal Failure, Please!
According to recent studies, new construction accounts for approximately 37% of the U.S. residential window market, with the remaining 63% attributed to remodeling and replacement. Meanwhile, some of the same builders who construct new homes also work in renovations, making them primary customers—and salespeople—for the window industry. Builders guide their clients toward the brands, models and features they’ve vetted and choose for quality, performance and reliability. Those preferences can shape entire neighborhoods and developments, making them a key channel for manufacturers looking to establish or maintain market presence.
But what do builders want in their windows?
With the help of Key Media & Research’s research division, [DWM] tapped a focused panel of experienced home builders with a special survey. All participants are directly involved in window selection and purchasing decisions for residential construction. While not intended as a statistically representative sample, the feedback provided gives clear directional insights into builder preferences, sales dynamics and product decision-making trends across the U.S. market. All respondents are home builders, the vast majority of whom (seven of eight) are key decision-makers, distributed across various U.S. regions.
