Joseph Pigliacampo, founder of Joseph Machine Company.

Officials at Joseph Machine Company have announced the recent passing of company founder Joseph Pigliacampo.

Born in Italy, Pigliacampo and his family immigrated to the United States in 1962, when he was 14. After finishing high school and becoming a U.S. citizen, he served in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. Over the years, he worked at Goodyear Aerospace and other machine shops, before joining the door and window industry.

Per his obituary, it was on the manufacturing line that he “grew increasingly frustrated with the inefficiencies of the manufacturing process.” It was from that frustration that Joseph Machine Company was formed. Forty years later, the company is still thriving and employs 120 people.

Pigliacampo is survived by his wife of 48 years, Aleta Wiggs, two children, four grandchildren and a sister, Giovanna Donatelli. He was preceded in death by his parents and another sister.

Pigliacampo died “peacefully” on Saturday, March 1. He was 77.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Sullivan’s Highland Funeral Home in Fayetteville at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to Homes for Our Troops.
