Unfinished corners are a pain point for many window manufacturers. Using colored paint pens to touch up the unfinished corners of painted or laminated welded products, such as window and patio door frames, is a common solution. Those touch-ups, however, have to be done manually, taking extra time and often leaving color inconsistencies.

Bill Nowak, president of CWI ColorWrap in Uhrichsville, Ohio, knew this was a major concern. And with that, Final Finish Products, based in nearby Dover, Ohio, was born.

“My background was in finished painted units, and my customers would ask if there was another option. At the time, there was no better option,” says Nowak. “So, the more I thought about it, I came up with the idea of using a robotic arm to provide a consistent and good quality product with a better aesthetic to the welded corners of laminated, painted or cap stock PVC windows.”

In January, guests saw firsthand how Final Finish Products’ new robotic line precisely paints welded corners to match lineals, amid an open house event.

“This will also be our products and equipment showroom, where we will host meetings with incoming prospects, existing customers and showcase new and innovative products or projects as we continue to develop and grow the company portfolio,” says Bill Oates, director of business development. “The goal is for potential customers to visit and observe their products being either coated with protective packaging or observing their windows or doors being ‘final finished’ with the Robotic Arm Corner Coater.”

Oates says the robotic corner coater machine creates a perfect final finish on the 45-degree welded corners of windows and patio doors by robotically administering LED matching paint. An instant-cure LED lighting action makes for consistent corners, he says.

“This function deletes the inconsistent and costly manual application pen, which is never an exact color match or has a much shorter life span in the field,” Oates says.

In addition to the robotic finishing equipment, Nowak also saw a need from customers for better product protection.

“We had found an alternative to standard protective film that would allow window manufacturers to let their customers leave a protective coating on the finished laminated painted or cap stock surface during the installation and building phases,” says Nowak.

For this solution, branded as EnviroWrap Protective Packaging by Final Finish Products, the company partnered with SPH Global, which provides a full line of peelable protective packaging coatings.

“The PVC protective packaging products are currently protecting all types of glass products, door and window products, both fully manufactured completed units as well as extrusion lineals and injected molded components,” adds Oates.

While Final Finish Products is starting with these two product lines, the company is already working on others. Nowak says the company plans to introduce one later this year. The other two, which he says will address finishing needs in the fenestration industry, have an estimated launch date in the first quarter of 2026.
