The latest Producer Price Index (PPI) from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) was released last week, with prices for materials used in door and window manufacturing mostly steady from March to April, but with small ups and downs on a year-over-year basis.

In April, the monthly PPI for flat glass in the commodity category clocked no significant change from March 2024, while dropping 2.2% on a year-over-year basis. The index for flat glass manufacturing in the industry classification mirrored the flat glass commodity category, with no change from the previous month, while dropping 2.2% from 2023. The industry classification measures “changes in prices received for the industry’s output sold outside the industry (that is, its net output).”

Prices for metal doors and frames also flatlined from March to April, but showed an improvement of 1% since last year.
