Marvin’s enterprise health and safety manager Bob Simmons has been awarded the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Special Government Employee of the Year award for his contributions to workplace and community safety.

Announced at the National Voluntary Protection Programs Participants Association (VPPPA) Safety + National Conference, Simmons was commended for his volunteerism and outstanding commitment to the partnership ideals of the Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP).

Simmons achieved this national recognition as a result of his participation on multiple VPP on-site evaluation teams, mentorship to multiple worksites and assisting OSHA with formal VPP training programs. In addition, Simmons provided driver safety outreach to the public.

In his role as enterprise health and safety manager at Marvin’s West Fargo facility, Simmons oversees all safety duties and responsibilities for the West Fargo South facility and the Marvin distribution center in West Fargo, N.D. He has been a member of the Marvin team for more than 28 years and is known for his extensive safety knowledge.

“We put our safety culture first at Marvin, which shapes how we manufacture, ship and deliver Marvin products,” said Marvin president Darrin Peterson. “Bob’s commitment to a safety mindset, best-in-class protocols and sharing his expertise with others is admirable and we are very grateful for his continued leadership at Marvin.”
