Fenplast Windows and Doors, a manufacturer based in Quebec, announced today that it acquired the residual assets of Atis Group on September 1. Atis Group was under the protection of the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act, according to a press release issued by Fenplast. According to company officials, the move will allow Fenplast to increase its production capacity. Nearly all affected employees will retain their jobs, and the company will now be known as Altek Windows and Doors, they said.

Among the assets in question are the former Laflamme Portes et Fenêtres plants located in St. Apollinaire, and an Altek Windows and Doors aluminum plant, located in Saint-Joseph de Beauce. Extrusions S.P, located in Terrebonne, is also part of the agreement.

“I am thrilled about this acquisition,” said Jean Marchand, president of Fenplast. “The additional production capacity brought about by the addition of plants with such experienced workers will enable Fenplast to better meet the growing demand.”

He notes that the acquisition will allow the company to direct the production of these plants towards the new construction markets, both for the residential and multi-dwelling markets. Located in Candiac, the company says it relies on an extensive distribution network of more than 80 independent specialized or owned dealers, and now employs more than 1,000 people.
