NSG Group, parent company to Pilkington, saw a 44% increase in architectural glass revenues in the most recent quarter compared to the same period last year, according to its latest financial report.

NSG reports sales in this segment totaled $608.2 million in its first quarter fiscal year 2022, which represents the months of April-June 2021.

The architectural segment accounts for 44% of the company’s revenue and includes the manufacture and sale of flat glass and various interior and exterior glazing products for commercial and residential applications. It also includes glass for the solar energy market.

“Architectural revenues and profits increased from the previous year which had been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” the report reads. “Revenues were robust although profits were impacted by increasing input costs, especially with respect to energy.”

Architectural glass revenues in the Americas, which includes the U.S. and Canada and represents 27% of NSG Groups architectural sales, were $157.3 million during the quarter—an increase of nearly 79% from the same period a year ago.

“In the Americas … revenues and profits were ahead of the previous year,” the report reads. “Volumes rebounded from the previous year but were constrained to some extent by low levels of inventory due to a planned cold repair, and also shortages of transportation capacity. Sales of glass for Solar Energy continued to be positive.”
