Robert Edward “Bob” Anderson Sr. died peacefully in his home Nov. 17, 2020 following a two-year battle with cancer. He was 84.

Born in Detroit on Sept. 26, 1936, to Victor E. and Marion Anderson, he was a member of the family that launched the window manufacturing company, V.E. Anderson Manufacturing Co.

Anderson and his wife, Nancy Pollard, raised three children in Owensboro, Ky., while he served as vice president and treasurer in the family business, until he left in 1979 after the death of his father and company changes. Later, Anderson bought back the company’s real estate, product lines and equipment and formed Sun Windows Inc., now run by his son and grandson.

Though he retired in 1995, Anderson continued to be involved in Sun Window’s success until within hours of his passing. He served his community in the same way as a member of groups such as the Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, United Way and the Home Builders Association of Owensboro.

Anderson is survived by his children, Robert E. Anderson Jr. (Eddie) of Lakeland, Fla., Georgia Henkel of Lexington, Ky., and Frank Anderson of Owensboro, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five brothers, a sister, many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and puppy pal, Ginger.

A celebration of life will be held in Owensboro at a date to be determined.
