Fenestration Canada has announced it will launch a new Installer Certification Program in 2019. Officials for the association, which is made up of door and window manufacturers, fabricators, suppliers and industry stakeholders, say the program was developed, “to provide a level of assurance that an individual possesses the competencies deemed necessary to perform the job function of a fenestration installer.”

The new certification was designed to compliment specifier requirements, such as those made by homeowners wishing to add certification as an installation requirement, or companies wishing to add certification as a job prerequisite. According to association officials, the program was developed to comply with the ISO 17024 standard and is set to compliment other accreditation programs offered by regional and national verification bodies. According to Fenestration Canada, ISO 17024 is the global benchmark for personnel certification programs, outlining the methods and procedures required to ensure the objective and unbiased assessment of a candidate’s knowledge, skills and abilities.

“We are very excited to launch Fenestration Canada’s first certification program,” says Jennifer Small, president of Fenestration Canada. “Proper installation is critical to the long-term performance of windows and doors. This program was developed to ensure that all certified installers abide by the same standards for installation.”

Fenestration Canada partnered with building professionals to offer the program across Canada, starting January 12, 2019.
