GlassBuild Day 1: All Shine No Rain

It was deja vu for any repeat attendees of GlassBuild America this year, with a major hurricane bearing down on parts of the country in the show’s first hours. Fortunately, that threat is far enough away from this year’s location in Las Vegas, that it hasn’t seemed to uproot any attendees or exhibitors (unlike 2017’s Irma). Instead, in the early hours of day one, it was right down to business.

GlassBuild Day 2: Market Insights, Glass Products and More

Day two of GlassBuild America took off to an early start for some attendees, including those visiting an industry update breakfast hosted by Building Industry Advisors. The by-invitation-only event was held at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino, where it drew the attendance of around 20 industry executives. Host Michael Collins, DWM blogger and managing director  for Building Industry Advisors, opened the event with a macro-economic overview of the economy, followed by a focus on how door and window companies might increase their value propositions amid tight labor markets.

GlassBuild Day 3: Finding Work Arounds

It’s the final day of GlassBuild and two topics that continue finding their way into conversations include tariffs and labor shortages. But it isn’t all gloom and doom in the process. We managed to track down several companies for which those topics carry silver linings.
