A new study shows that customers who feel their homes are more secure, and are informed about their product, are the most satisfied. This is according to the 2018 Windows and Patio Doors Satisfaction Study by J.D. Power. This is the 12th year for the study, and is based on survey responses from 3,797 customers who all previously purchased windows or patio doors in the past 12 months. “It may be a given that customers want their homes to be more secure and energy efficient with new window and patio door purchases, however, there are many benefits and product features that are not apparent at first glance,” says Christina Cooley director, Home Improvement and Technology Practice at J.D. Power. “If manufacturers and retailers can educate customers on these overlooked features that provide value, they will see an increase in customer satisfaction.”

The study was completed in March-April 2018. There are two sections, the manufacturer brand segment and the retailer segment. The first measures customer satisfaction based on performance in three sections: appearance and design features, operational performance and durability, and warranty. The latter measures customer satisfaction based on performance in four factors: installation, ordering and delivery, price, and sales staff and service.

The highest ranking in manufacturing was Renewal by Andersen, performing the best in in operational performance and durability. The second highest was Harvey, showing the highest ratings in warranty, followed by Infinity in third, performing highest in appearance and design features. The survey shows that overall satisfaction with windows and patio doors is 863, up from 840 in 2017.

The highest ranking in retailers was Window World, standing out in price. Second was Renewal by Anderson, showing the best scores in installation and ordering and delivery. Pella ranked third with high stats in sales staff and service.
