Sunrise Windows and Doors has acquired Louisville, Ky.-based Paragon Windows & Doors, a maker of residential replacement doors and windows. No financial terms were disclosed.

“We are excited to unite with an industry leader in the pre-hung door market,” said Gary Delman, CEO of Sunrise Windows and Doors, which is headquartered in Temperance, Mich. “The Paragon name is synonymous with quality, performance and innovation, a perfect match for our philosophy.”

Sunrise president and COO Carl Will thinks the consolidation of the two operations makes each stronger.

“This marriage allows us to create a full suite of product offerings that cover the entire continuum from value lines, to mid-grade lines, all the way to the premium products that our dealers and their customers are looking for,” he said.

Sunrise Windows and Doors will continue to offer its existing brands while adding Paragon’s line of steel, fiberglass and storm doors, as well as the Compozit and Compozit 2 lines of replacement windows.

“Integrating Paragon’s operation with Sunrise just makes a lot of sense,” said Larry Smith, president of Paragon Windows and Doors. “They have outstanding product lines and a long history of success in the window business. Their sales organization is the industry’s gold standard and will help us grow the Paragon dealer partner network.”

Smith will continue to operate the Paragon facility in Louisville.

The Riverside Company, a private-equity firm that acquired Sunrise Windows in December 2010 and backed the deal to purchase Paragon, said it’s excited about the new window product lines Paragon brings in addition to doors.

“Paragon has an excellent reputation for its compelling door offerings,” said Riverside managing partner Suzy Kriscunas. “With its outstanding domestic production, it can meet customer demand quickly and effectively at a very competitive price point.”

“Paragon’s composite window and the vinyl window that they just developed both slot into Sunrise Window’s product offerings nicely,” said Riverside partner Tim Gosline. “This deepens the product line and enables Sunrise to provide the ideal window for just about any customer.”

Since its founding in 1988, Riverside has invested in more than 480 transactions. The firm’s international portfolio includes more than 80 companies.
