  1. With the current state of the IRC and IECC, Energy Star for windows and doors is obsolete. The claim “Energy Star Certified” is meaningless, as Energy Star certifies nothing. They’ve been attempting to distinguish themselves as some sort of elite credential and they’ve failed. All they do is add cost, as now any Energy Star participant is forced to also participate in an “independent verification program” that establishes costly redundancy in an already effective NFRC Thermal Certification and labeling program.
