Saint-Gobain recently announced its acquisition of Romanian company Pietta Glass Working, which has operations in glass processing, insulating glazing systems and automotive glass, according to a company press release.

Pietta Glass is owned by Italian businessman Alessandro Pietta. Saint-Gobain did not disclose the financials associated with the acquisition.

“This acquisition will allow the Group to expand the business’ industrial footprint in order to better serve the growing façade markets and round out its positioning in industrial applications with an optimized cost base,” according to the release.

Pietta Glass Working was founded in 2000 after a wide experience in glass manufacturing in Italy. The Romanian operation consists of four plants – one for producing plant monolithic glass for domestic appliance and automotive glass, and another for producing architectural glass, furniture glass and shipbuilding glass are processed. The third plant assembles products for refrigeration cabinets are assembled. In another plant, complete cells for building’s facades are assembled.
