Flat glass prices dipped slightly in September, and year-over-year increases continue to level out, according to the latest Producer Price Index (PPI) report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Prices dipped 0.2 percent last month after an increase by the same percentage in August. September’s mark was a rare occurrence in 2016, as six of the previous nine months saw increases. The material’s index is up 3.8 percent from September of 2015—for comparison, the year-over-year increase was as high as 7.7 percent in May.

According to the BLS, the PPI program measures the average change over time in the selling prices received by domestic producers for their output. The prices included in the PPI are from the first commercial transaction for many products and some services.

Final demand for construction was up just 0.1 percent for the month after staying flat in August.

Prices for materials and components for construction were down 0.2 percent for the month following multiple monthly increases, and they are up 1.5 percent from the same time last year.

Construction and machinery prices ticked up 0.1 percent in September are a slight 0.2-percent increase over the last three months. That index is up 0.8 percent from a year ago.

In another report, import prices for glass and glassware increased 0.2 percent and remain unchanged for the year. Export prices in the category remained flat for the third straight month, though they are up 0.7 percent since September 2015.

Overall, the PPI for final demand was up 0.3 percent in September, seasonally adjusted. Final demand prices were unchanged in August and declined 0.4 percent in July. On an unadjusted basis, the final demand index increased 0.7 percent for the 12 months ended in September.

U.S. import prices increased 0.1 percent for the month after dipping 0.2 percent in August. Prices for U.S. exports increased 0.3 percent in September following a 0.8-percent decrease in August.
