Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based Alside, manufacturer and wholesale distributor of residential and light commercial exterior building products, is celebrating the long-standing career of one of their own in December.

After 65 years of service, John Fetter, a truck driver for the company, is retiring.

Fetter’s alliance with Alside started early, as he knew the company’s founders, the Kaufman family, from school.  He joined Alside in 1951 when he was 18 years old. He was a truck driver at the original company location. After a fire destroyed the building in 1956, Fetter moved with the company to its current location where both he and the company have remained ever since.

“My favorite takeaway and the best part about everyday was the people I worked with,” he says. “The people who surrounded me over the years at Alside became like family and always will be.”

For his last 27 years of service, Fetter worked part-time for the company, which allowed him to spend more time with his now late wife. A grandfather of three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, he plans on spending time with them in his retirement.
