The presidential candidates forum that was scheduled for the upcoming International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Las Vegas has been canceled.

The forum, which was set for January 20,  won’t be going forward because all the major candidates declined invitations to the event that was to be sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and its partners, National Journal and The Atlantic.

According to a press release from NAHB, here are some of the reasons the candidates cited for canceling:

·The presidential contenders say they must devote their remaining time campaigning in Iowa and New Hampshire, the states that open the primary voting season in February.

·The campaign’s focus has shifted from domestic economic issues to national security and foreign policy.

·A second national GOP debate recently added to the January calendar means the candidates are forced to do more debate prep, which means more time away from the campaign trail.

NAHB says it will “continue working with leaders on both sides of the political aisle and with the eventual Democratic and Republican presidential nominees to ensure that housing remains a national priority and to advance policies that promote homeownership and affordable rental housing opportunities for all Americans.”
