The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association’s (NLBMDA) Board of Directors appointed Jonathan Paine as the new president and CEO of the organization at its annual meeting on October 28 at the ProDealer Industry Summit in San Diego, Calif. Paine has served as the association’s executive vice president since 2012 and replaces outgoing president Michael O’Brien, who is assuming other responsibilities with NLBMDA’s management firm.

As president and CEO, Paine will be based in Washington, D.C. He will continue to work closely with NLBMDA leaders, member volunteers and the state and regional building material associations that comprise the NLBMDA federation.

“The [lumber and building materials] (LBM) industry has come a long way since the housing crash and economic recession of the late 2000s, and in Jonathan the industry will find a great champion that will continue our aggressive agenda of promoting, advancing, and protecting the interests of the LBM industry in Washington. I have every confidence that Jonathan will help take NLBMDA to the next level,” says O’Brien.

Paine adds, “I am delighted to take over the reins of this great association and I’m excited to bring this next strategic plan to fruition. In light of the great success of the last three year plan, I know expectations are even higher, so the NLBMDA staff and I will continue to develop innovative solutions to dealer problems and boost the standing of this industry in Washington, D.C., and through cooperation with the state and regional associations around the U.S. I have seen first-hand the benefits dealers get from coming together, and I can’t wait to help push our causes forward and achieve even greater success with our advocacy efforts.”
