SHARP_ProPlastix_MillersburgProPlastix, supplier for MI Windows and Doors (MIWD), has received a Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) award through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

The award, granted to the company and its Millersburg and Elizabethville, Pa., manufacturing facilities, recognizes its safety and health management systems.

“The SHARP certification is one award that all team members should be proud of,” says Jeff Paradise, vice president of manufacturing for ProPlastix. “It not only involves assuring that all assessments associated with the program are met but more importantly assures that we are all committed to safety first.”

According to a statement issued by MIWD, the SHARP award is presented to employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system facility.

“Acceptance into SHARP by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) qualifies ProPlastix as a model amongst its peers for work site safety and health. Out of 7 million US work sites, less than 2,000 have earned OSHA SHARP Certification,” reads the release.

Some of the improvements ProPlastix made to qualify for the award include hazard anticipation and detection, hazard prevention, assurance of OSHA-mandated program use, three-year maintenance of low injury rates and creation of trained safety teams. Additionally, ProPlastix worked to keep its team aware of the surroundings and improve the company environment.
