Hurd Windows and Doors has been named a 2012 Exporter of the Year award winner for marketing its Made in America products in 20 countries worldwide. The award was presented by ThinkGlobal Inc., publisher of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Commercial News USA.

The Exporter of the Year award in the Building/Construction/Hardware category was presented to Hurd’s president and CEO Dominic Truniger and director of international sales Scott Klieforth on March 27 during the Asia/Pacific Business Outlook conference in Los Angeles.

“We are focused on dramatically expanding our international market presence,” Klieforth says. “Export sales have helped us diversify our business during the current challenges of our domestic economy. We are extremely honored by the recognition our achievement have earned.”

According to the announcement, criteria on which Hurd was selected include the total number of documented export transactions, the total percentage increase in sales, exports as a percentage of total sales, the company’s commitment to exporting, the company’s commitment to customer service, and the company’s innovation and originality in marketing products or services. To be eligible for the award, a company must currently be exporting from the United States.

“Hurd Windows & Doors is indicative of how proactive American companies are growing by exporting,” says Gregory Sandler, president of ThinkGlobal. “This year’s winners reflect the diversity of American exporters, 97 percent of whom are small-medium sized enterprises. Exporting is a critical part of the U.S. economy, accounting for 12.5 percent of the nation’s GDP. In fact, 70 percent of the world’s purchasing power is located outside of the United States.”
